Louisiana participates in VINE through a state-specific LAVNS entry. The service supports custody-status lookup and notifications based on information sent by participating agencies. It also carries Louisiana DPS&C records for imprisoned people and people under probation or parole community supervision. That state coverage helps when someone has left Jefferson Davis Parish jail custody but remains under a different correctional authority.

DPS&C says LAVNS updates every 24 hours. That published cadence applies to the state corrections explanation, not as a promise that every local JDPSO event reaches VINE at the same time. A late or missing update can leave VINE behind the source agency. Record the search date and time so a later conflict can be explained instead of hidden.
Projected release dates require special care. DPS&C documents that field through its telephone locator at 225-383-4580 when applicable. The official web explanation does not promise the projected date will appear in every public online record. Have the DPS&C number, or the person’s name and date of birth, before calling. A projection is not an actual release event.

An alert reports data sent to VINE. It is not a guarantee of advance warning. Agency transmission, system processing, a changed custody plan, telephone blocking, spam filters, a full voicemail box, or old contact information can affect delivery. Keep more than one safe contact method when the interface allows it, and verify a critical event with the source agency.
Question: Can a release alert prove community release? No. A notice can reflect release from the reporting custodian, including a transfer to another authority. Ask the named agency whether the person entered the community or moved to another jail, DPS&C, federal custody, or another lawful custodian.
Jefferson Davis Parish VINE PIN Codes
The four-digit notification PIN and an account confirmation code serve different purposes. For an automated phone alert, listen to the message and enter the four-digit PIN followed by #. That step acknowledges receipt and stops repeated calls for the same event. A call may repeat when no one answers or the correct PIN is not entered. Repetition alone does not mean a second custody change occurred.
Account creation can separately send a six-character code by text or email. That code verifies the account. It is not the four-digit phone-alert PIN. Keep both private and do not place either in notes that may be shared. Jefferson Davis Parish VINE Participation
Louisiana’s state-specific VINE entry is the local notification layer, but it does not justify a blanket promise that every Jefferson Davis Parish booking will appear. For registry verification, the Louisiana State Registry publishes 1-800-858-0551 and service hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central. VINE support uses a different number and role. Jefferson Davis Parish VINE Limits

Ask whether the event was bond, sentence completion, court-ordered release, or transfer and whether a receiving agency can be identified if public. If staff directs the request to records, ask for the releasable release sheet, authorization, and receiving-agency field rather than an entire file. For a state record, check LAVNS and call the DPS&C locator. For a court-driven result, contact the Jefferson Davis Parish Clerk with the name, booking number, approximate filing date, and docket number if known.
